The Chen Institute is pleased to offer up to 10 travel grants of USD 500 each to support authors of accepted papers who wish to attend AIAS 2025 (San Francisco, October 27–28, 2025) in person but lack sufficient funding to cover their travel costs.
These grants are intended to reduce barriers to participation and to ensure that a diverse set of voices is represented at the conference.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be an author of a paper accepted for presentation at AIAS 2025.
- Plan to attend the conference in person in San Francisco.
- Lack alternative funding (institutional, project, or other grants) to cover travel expenses.
Preference may be given to:
- Students and early-career researchers.
- Authors from underrepresented regions or institutions with limited resources.
Grant Amount and Eligible Expenses
- Each award is USD 500.
- Grants may be applied toward: airfare/train, ground transportation, lodging, conference registration, and visa costs.
- The award is a partial subsidy; recipients may need to cover remaining costs from other sources.
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Demonstrated financial need.
- Contribution and quality of the accepted paper.
- Geographic and institutional diversity.
- Student or early-career status.
Chen Institute reserves the right to not grant awards to applications regardless of ranking based on a Board decision.

- Notification results: October 10, 2025
- Conference dates: October 27-28, 2025
Disbursement
- Travel grants will be disbursed as reimbursements after the conference upon submission of receipts and verification of in-person participation.
- Awardees may be asked to provide a short statement after the conference describing how the travel grant supported their attendance.
